Digitalization is increasing human mobility at historically unprecedented levels, to the the point that it is deemed to enable nomadic lifestyles.
The idiom “digital nomadism” suggests that, for the first time since agriculture and settling, humans might be able to live prosperously without settling geographically. In this lecture we will consider critically how digital nomadism is promoted by governments and business as a commodity. For this, we will ponder anthropologically on how humans, as a nomadic species, eventually chose settling and what does digital nomadism entail for current societies.
