APU offers a number of environment-related classes, so I am able to learn a lot about familiar environmental issues and initiatives that I was not aware of before. I am currently most interested in the possibility of green hydrogen using geothermal energy, which is a resource of Oita Prefecture where APU is located. In Oita Prefecture, local residents are experiencing green hydrogen as a renewable energy source, and if such efforts spread to other parts of the country, I believe that achieving carbon neutrality in 2050 is not just a dream. I also believe that we can take a more proactive approach to reducing plastic waste in order to achieve the SDGs. As for myself, I would like to disseminate information so that awareness of clothing recycling will spread among a wide range of generations by establishing a clothing reuse/recycling system. I would like to contribute to the efforts to make the concept of sustainability more familiar in Japan by referring to the examples of SDGs initiatives that we learned about in class.
