Experiences at APU broaden my horizons and shaped me into a confident person

Binh Ha Rowand

College of Asia-Pacific Studies, Graduated in 2012
Worked at Columbia University (United States)

I believe education is the ultimat e way to create a sustainable world. My interest in international education started to grow when I participated in a 10-day field study trip with 20 other students. Professor Yuichi Kondo(then at APU) led us to Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong to learn the process of internationalization at local universities. APU is like an international village, but when I stepped out, I realized how diverse international education in other countries is, and more importantly, how I myself as a global citizen can thrive in this field. My advice to future APU students is to step outside of your comfort zone, open up and make friends with students from around the world to extend your horizons. Also, plan your study wisely, learn a new language and explore all possibilities to find out what career you would like to pursue after APU. You will be amazed how many opportunities will open up to you in the future!
