Exemption from the payment of Application Fee due to natural disasters

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all those who were affected by the disaster.
APU provides special measure for the exemption from the payment of Application Fee to those students who were affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons to which the Disaster Relief Law applies in this fiscal year in order to guarantee the opportunity to apply to APU.
If you are applicable and wish to apply for special measure, please follow the prescribed procedures as follows.

1. Subjects

Applicants who wish to enroll in 2024 who were affected in the following Disaster Relief Law-applied areas this fiscal year, and who fall under any of the following categories.

  • Death or long-term hospitalization or treatment of a household supporter;
  • Loss, total destruction, major or partial destruction, or flooding above floor level of a house occupied by a household supporter;
  • Other damage recognized by the university as equivalent to (2) above.

2. Details of special measures

The entire Application Fee will be waived for the 2024 application (all Application Types apply).

3. Required documents

  • “Application for Special Measures for Disaster-Affected Examinees” (*This is a form prescribed by the university.)
    “Part 1” (required for all applicants), “Part 2” (for Comprehensive Selection and Admissions by School Recommendation), “Part 3” (for General Selection), and “Part 4” (for Common Test Method)
  • “Disaster victim certificate”
  • Other documents certifying sudden changes in household finances (documents regarding medical treatment, hospitalization for household supporters, etc.)
    *Regarding (3) above, please contact us in advance if you are unsure of the relevant documents.

<If you wish to have your disaster victim certificate returned>
As a general rule, submitted certificates will not be returned. However, only the disaster victim certificate will be returned at a later date after the original is submitted and verified by the university.
If you wish to have the original returned, please follow the instructions below and prepare your own “return envelope” and enclose it with the submitted documents (there is no designated envelope).

  • Prepare a “return envelope” (non-standard size), fill in the name and address of the recipient, and affix a stamp for the amount necessary to return the envelope as a registered letter.
  • Place the documents you wish to be returned in the “return envelope” (do not seal the envelope).

4. Application method/application deadline

Please send the required documents to the address below.
The deadline for application is the day before the start of the application period for each Application Type (must arrive no later than the day before the application period starts).

5. Notification of the result

The application will be reviewed based on the application documents and the result will be sent in writing to the applicant’s contact address indicated on the application form.

6. Others

  • Applications must be submitted by the deadline. Please note that application submitted after the deadline is not eligible.
    *However, if you are unable to obtain the necessary certification documents by the deadline, please contact us in advance.
  • In the event that the Application Type for which the Application Fee has already been paid is placed in special measures, the applicable fee will be refunded.
