Changing the world during the COVID-19 pandemic with an electricity-free ventilator.
BILESANMI Yusuf Oladipupo
【Nigeria】
College of Asia-Pacific Studies, Graduated in 2010
Yusuf studied ICT at APU, where he constantly explored how IT and energy could contribute to a more sustainable world. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he invented a low-cost ventilator that can be used without electricity. His innovation was nominated for the “Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation,” organized by the Royal Academy of Engineering in the UK, where it received the One-to-Watch Award. The ventilator is expected to be used in regions such as Africa, where lives that could otherwise be saved are being lost due to shortages of ventilators and reliable power supplies.
