※Depending on application numbers and examination results, the number of acceptances actually issued may be less than the number of students listed above. In that case, the shortfall will be recruited from applicants in other entrance examination streams.
2. Screening Methods and Schedules
(1) Screening
Assessment is based on submitted application documents (certification of English language proficiency, academic transcripts, etc.)
※Those applying on an English basis must complete Entry Sheet B and the Essay in English.
(2) Final determination
Determination of acceptance/non-acceptance will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of submitted documents.

3. Application Qualifications
Applicants must fulfill both application qualification 1 (academic background) and 2 (language proficiency).
1) Application Qualification 1: Academic Background
Applicants must fall within one of the categories (1) through (3) below.
(1) Individuals who have undertaken / are undertaking at least two consecutive senior high school years, including the final school year, of school education formally conducted under a regular education system in a country other than Japan, and who have graduated from or completed (or are scheduled to graduate from or complete) a standard 12-year curriculum of courses (including periods of schooling under the regular curriculum in Japan) between April 1, 2010 September 20, 2011. Note: “school education formally conducted under a regular education system in a country other than Japan” includes education at an external educational institution recognized by the Japanese Government Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as offering a curriculum equivalent to that of a junior high school / senior high school within Japan.
(2) Individuals who are 18 years of age or above as of September 21, 2011 and who have obtained (or are scheduled to obtain) an International Baccalaureate, Baccalaureate, or Abitur between April 1, 2010 and September 20, 2011.
(3) Individuals who are not eligible under (1) or (2) above but who APU deems fit to apply as returnee students, and who have graduated from or completed (or are scheduled to graduate from or complete) a 12-year curriculum of courses (including periods of schooling under the regular curriculum in Japan) at an educational institution overseas between April 1, 2010 and September 20, 2011.
2) Application Qualification 2: Language Proficiency
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
Japanese basis: Must have obtained by the time of application at least one of the following minimum scores or results: 450
points on the TOEFL(R) paper based testing; 45 points on the TOEFL(R) internet based testing; band 5.0 on IELTS
(Academic); 442 points on the TOEIC(R); 706 points on the GTEC for Students; Grade 2 of the EIKEN Test in Practical
English Proficiency (実用英語技能検定).
English basis: Must have obtained by the time of application at least one of the following minimum scores or results: 500
points on the TOEFL(R) paper based testing; 61 points on the TOEFL(R) internet based testing; band 5.5 on IELTS
(Academic); 587 points on the TOEIC(R); 787 points on the GTEC for Students; Grade pre-1 of the EIKEN Test in Practical
English Proficiency (実用英語技能検定).
※TOEFL(R)/ ITP and TOEIC(R) / IP scores are not recognized in fulfillment of these application requirements.
※TOEFL(R) and TOEIC(R) exam results are valid for two years from the examination date printed on the certificate/statement of results.
